Spring 2024 Convention Completed!
Date: 17-18 May 2024
Hosted by the Loudoun Detachment #1205
HUGE THANK YOU to Loudoun Detachment # 1205 for being such GREAT hosts.
We had 10 of our 16 Detachments present for the Convention, so thank you to all who were able to make it.
We were also honored to have guests from the Dept of Maryland, Dept of North Carolina and the Mideast Division Commandant.
We had 5 Detachments submit very qualified Marines for the Dept of VA Marine of the Year.
We are pleased to announce that Dept JA Phil Parsons is our 2024 Dept of VA Marine of the Year.
There was no Dept of VA Associate of the Year that met the criteria, so Jim Ralls continues on as the AOY Committee Chair.
There were 5 Detachment Newsletters submitted for the Newsletter competition.
Plaques were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners this year.
- 1st Place: John A. LeJeune Detachment # 332
- 2nd Place: James M. Slay Detachment # 329
- 3rd Place: Jack Maas Detachment # 1379
We received no applicants for the Dept scholarship, so we will make a concerted effort to better advertise for this next year.
We successfully completed our Department elections and installations, so all of that will be updated soon.
Keep checking back as there is more to come soon!
If you have not yet registered for the MED Conference in WV at the end of June, please consider attending.
